I found this post on another site and asked for permission to copy and paste it. Permission was granted and here it is:
I know quite a few years ago a lot of sellers went with some of the services that print the postage "stelth". In other words without showing what you paid for the shipping. That was all fine for many when shipping was a "profit center".
But for items that the actual shipping SEEMS high compared to the selling price, if the legitimate shipping price IS high, why not print with something that shows what you paid for the shipping so the buyer knows you aren't ripping them off. With a note also inside the package showing the shipping cost plus any addition you put in for "packaging, handling, whatever" and the reasons, MAYBE that will help.
I say maybe because some buyers will still be totally unreasonable. Way back in my early days at eBay, my first neg or neut (don't remember which) was from a lady that commented "charged too much for shipping".
I think that was for a multi item sale too where I combined shipping. Clearly posted in ALL my listings was "$1.25 for 1st item and 0.25 for any additional items." She was charged $1.50 for shipping and OK it only cost me 0.65 for the first class postage. But she didn't take into account the fact that I had to buy a bubble mailer for more than 0.25 plus the other packaging for the items and my gas to drive 5 miles each way to the post office plus she got a freebie in the package. After my eBay fees and PP fees I probably lost money on the shipping on that package.
Some people just can't be satisfied no matter what !!!!
My mother used to tell me about 1 of her office mates from when she was single. EVERY time a group of them would go out to eat, this 1 girl would send the plate back to the kitchen as SOMETHING wasn't right in her opinion. Pretty soon, no one wanted to include her when they went out. They would pretent to head home and then meet after she was gone.
Unfortunately we will always get a few like that.
Hopefully we won't BE like that ourselves.
